In a significant move towards data sovereignty, Healthchecks.io has announced its transition to self-hosted object storage. This strategic shift marks a new era for the health monitoring service, allowing for greater control over its data and potentially enhanced security features.
The world of consumer electronics has seen a surge in innovative display technologies, with TCL leading the charge. The company has expanded its lineup of Mini LED TVs with the introduction of the QM8L and QM7L SQD-Mini LED models, as well as the RM9L RGB-Mini LED TV. The QM8L boasts an anti-reflective SQD-Mini LED panel, up to 4,000 discrete dimming zones, and peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits. Meanwhile, the RM9L RGB-Mini LED TV starts at $8,000 for the 85-inch model and goes up to $30,000 for a 115-inch model.
However, not all tech news is on the cutting edge of innovation. A critical safety alert has been issued for the Casely Power Pods wireless charger due to reports of overheating, fires, and even fatalities. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has reannounced a recall of the defective devices, urging users to stop using them immediately and seek a free replacement from the manufacturer. The recall affects 429,000 units sold online, and users are advised to dispose of the chargers safely to prevent further incidents.
These developments highlight the dual nature of the tech industry, where innovation and safety must go hand-in-hand. As consumers, it’s essential to stay informed about the products we use and the companies we trust with our data.
